Mike Carpenter, Bulder, General Contractor
True to craftGenuine “craft” is often absent from the modern building scene. Perhaps a more sophisticated, corporate approach has filtered into the business, where projects are only obstacles to be overcome on the way to the bottom line. Or, it may be a lack of professional expertise needed to handle a broad variety of materials and project demands. Whatever the reason, know that dedication to “craft” is what sets a professional apart from the rest.

Why use a contractor? If you are a first-time homeowner, or are debating managing a project on your own, there are a couple things you should consider. Hiring a contractor gives you a single point of contact from the start of your project to the finish. They draft plans, get local government approvals, hire and oversee sub-contractors (electricians, plumbers, HVAC) and are on the job every day. They are the hands providing the carpentry and other finishing skills. And, most importantly, it is the responsibility of the contractor to manage a project’s expenses and keep the project on track.

My approach as a General ContractorA new home, addition or remodel is a significant investment of time and resources. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. More than 25 years of experience, an extensive skill set, an honest upfront cost estimate and the use of quality materials are a few of the things that set this business apart from other seemingly less expensive operations. Your job site will be maintained at a high level of cleanliness and the project will be managed to create as small of an interruption in your life as possible.

Starting your project. If you have an idea for your project, collect your thoughts, as well as any reference material you can get your hands on, and give me a call. We will meet face to face to collaborate on the project details. Once your project is outlined, you will receive a written cost estimate. For larger projects involving design and drafting services, there will be a nominal upfront fee. Upon moving forward with the project, the fee will be applied to your overall project cost.
